The visiting New England Mutiny had their eyes on the prize. They started strong and ended strong but they were unable to finish their chances.
Leah Blayney and Tiffany Weimer scored second-half goals Friday night as the Reds clinched first place and maintained their unblemished record in the Women's Premier Soccer League's East-North Division with a 2-0 victory at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
"Our defense was solid all game long," said Reds coach Tony DiCicco, who returned to the bench after spending most of the season in Mexico coaching the U-20 nationals in the World Cup qualifying tournament.
